Full Spectrum vs. Broad Spectrum CBD Oil

It’s great to have options when it comes to CBD—but how do you know where to start? Don’t worry, we’re here to help.

What are Cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are compounds that are found within the cannabis plant. Amongst these compounds are CBD and THC, in addition to over a hundred others. Scientists have determined that these compounds are naturally occurring within different cannabis strains.

Back in 1995, scientists discovered that cannabinoids interact with receptors within the human Endocannabinoid System (ECS) and help to provide many benefits to the human body.  Continued research revealed that each cannabinoid reacts differently with your body. For example, THC, which is popularly known as the compound found in marijuana causes you to feel “high.” While CBD does not. In fact, CBD is believed to counteract the psychoactive effects that occur after consuming THC.

What is Full Spectrum CBD?

Full spectrum is just as it sounds—full of all of the compounds! Full spectrum CBD is an extract that contains all of the compounds found to be naturally occurring in the cannabis plant. This extract is a pure, unprocessed, and unfiltered extract that comes from the cannabis plant. Additionally, this includes terpenes, essential oils, and other cannabinoids.

These compounds can be extracted from the plant to work together to enhance the therapeutic benefits of each individual cannabinoid. This concept is referred to as, “The Entourage Effect.”

What is Broad Spectrum CBD?

Broad spectrum is the newest CBD extract to hit the market. Broad spectrum is somewhere in between full spectrum and isolate CBD since it is processed like isolate CBD, but has a wide range of cannabinoids similar to full spectrum.

Broad spectrum CBD starts as full spectrum extract then it undergoes a refinement process that removes the THC compound before it is used. In the most simple terms, broad spectrum CBD is essentially full spectrum CBD, minus the THC.

Which Is Best For You?

Now that you have a bit more insight into the differences between full spectrum and broad spectrum CBD, you’re probably asking, “Which one should I use?” It’s important to recognize that neither product is “better” than the other.

Each person has their own personal needs when it comes to CBD. Some people prefer one over the other to meet their needs and comfort their unique conditions.

Typically, full spectrum products are best for those that wish to experience the Entourage Effect and/or consume products that undergo fewer processes. However, you should know that full spectrum products have the potential to cause psychoactive effects, may appear on drug tests—so you should be mindful of this before consuming.

Broad spectrum products offer the full benefits of the cannabis plant with no risk of psychoactive effects. However, these products may have a strong, natural flavor and odor.

In the end, the type of product you use is completely up to you and what you are hoping to achieve with product use. For broad-spectrum products, you can trust, shop A88CBD™!
